Questions
Is it free?
Yes. The free plan gives you 10 minutes of audio every month, with tracks up to 6 minutes and no card. Pro gives you 180 minutes a month, tracks up to 15 minutes and WAV downloads.
Which instruments can I remove?
Pick one of 18 from the list — violin, viola, cello, double bass, piano, acoustic or electric guitar, bass guitar, drums, vocals, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, flute, clarinet, harmonica, accordion or marimba — or describe any other in a few English words, like “steel drums” or “charango”.
Will it sound good?
It works from your own recording, so the backing track keeps the original sound, in stereo. Results depend on the recording: an instrument that is clear in the mix separates more cleanly than one buried under others, and one that sounds different from the rest more cleanly than one among its own kind. A solo violin in front of a string orchestra, or one voice of a string quartet, is still hard to separate. The free plan lets you hear it on your own recordings before you pay.
Why does the first track take a few minutes?
Separating an instrument needs a GPU, and we turn it off when nobody is using it. The first track after a quiet spell waits about 3 minutes while it starts. After that it's quick: a 3-minute song takes a little over a minute.
What happens to my audio?
The file you upload is deleted as soon as it's processed. Your results are kept for 30 days so you can download them, or until you delete them. We never use your audio to train AI, and the site has no advertising cookies.
Can I paste a YouTube or Spotify link?
No. Play Your Part only works with files you upload, and it doesn't download audio from streaming services or links. Upload only audio you have the right to use.
Can I share or publish the tracks?
The tracks are for your own practice, study and rehearsal. Any other use is your responsibility. Publishing a song usually needs permission from whoever owns its rights.
Why do I describe the instrument in English?
The AI model understands English descriptions. Two or three words work best: “alto sax”, “nylon guitar”, “steel drums”. Name only what to remove: it doesn’t understand “not” or “except”.
Which formats?
You can upload MP3, WAV, FLAC, M4A or OGG. You download MP3 (and 24-bit WAV with Pro), each track on its own or both in a zip.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes, in your phone's browser. There's no app to install.
Monthly or yearly?
Same Pro, two ways to pay: US$9.99 a month, or US$79 a year (about 34% less). Taxes are added at checkout according to your country.
How do I cancel or get a refund?
Cancel anytime from the studio; you keep Pro until the end of the period you paid for. If it didn't work for you, ask for a full refund within 14 days of your first payment.
